Kia ora koutou katoa, ko Grace toku ingoa.

I am looking forward to joining the Toko School Community as Room 5’s Year 5 and 6 Kaiako this year. I have recently moved into town after spending the previous few years teaching Year 3 and 4 in my hometown of Pōneke (Wellington). I studied at Te Herenga Waka (Victoria University of Wellington) and my qualifications include a Masters in Primary Teaching, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Media Studies. Moving to Toko has been something that I have really been looking forward to, after spending a lot of time both here and in the wider Taranaki region with my partner and his family.
I thoroughly enjoy working alongside children and young people. There is nothing better than the teaching and learning that is reciprocated each day between ākonga and kaiako within the classroom. Often I feel like tamariki teach me more than I teach them! I enjoy engaging students in learning by getting to know their strengths and interests, and by creating opportunities to explore these within the classroom. I am also passionate about developing leadership and creativity, across the many ways these qualities can be expressed. My favourite subjects to teach are Science and Art. This year, I look forward to working with a wonderful group of students and making the most of each day.
